Wholly Homeopathy Happenings

May 2025 Edition by: Wendy Dickens

May, Mothers, and Magnificence!

Here in the Midwest, May ushers in more consistent spring-like weather, and of course I would be remiss if I didn't also mention Mother's Day! It's in the spirit of appreciation for all that mothers do for us and the joy of being a mother that I'd like to share a homeopathic tip especially for these important people in our lives.

Let's face it, while motherhood is full of joy and beautiful moments, it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Ignatia amara 200c, taken twice daily is a wonderful remedy for things that many mothers (or anyone else for that matter) may be facing such as overwhelm and anxiety, insomnia, and even sadness or depression. If this resonates with you or for someone dear in your life, consider Ignatia for a few weeks as described and see if any improvement is noted. I'd love to hear about it if you do!

All About Eyes ~

They say the eyes are the window of the soul. Whether blue, brown, hazel or green, this month my social media feeds will be all about eyes!

Do spring allergies have you down? Don't cry! Or maybe that's the itching and lacrimation giving you fits. Euphrasia officinalis 30c, taken every 2-3 hours as needed at the height of symptoms can bring wonderful relief. Give it a try!

Conjunctivitis, or pink eye as it is more widely known, is not only unsightly, but it can be a goopy, itchy mess. Belladonna 30c taken every 3-4 hours as needed can bring great relief and healing or if the issue is particularly severe and the discharge is profuse, Pulsatilla nigricans 30c taken in the same way is an excellent choice.

Styes can be itchy, painful and just an overall nuisance. I used to get them fairly frequently as a little girl. I sure wish my mother had known about homeopathy! Hepar sulphuris calcareum 200c, taken twice daily will likely bring quick healing to this infection of the eye glands.

Let's talk dry eyes. Sometimes called Sjogren's Syndrome, this condition is often managed with eye drops or even medications. What if there is a better way? Arsenicum album 30c, taken twice daily is one of the homeopathic remedies that can improve this condition or even wipe it out entirely.

Success Story Spotlight

Hot flashes. These can be the bane of some women's existence in their more seasoned years. This month's story is actually my own and I'm sharing it for all the women like myself who have not so enthusiastically begun the rite of passage we call menopause. Compared to what some women endure, the hot flashes I experienced where not nearly as life altering. However, they were still quite uncomfortable and would occasionally wake me at night.

There are a few different protocols which can be useful for hot flashes, and it took a little time for me to give each one a good try before determining I needed to move on to another. Sulphur, Lachesis muta, Ammonium carbonicum are a few of the remedies I tried first, but the one which completely uprooted the issue for me is Sepia 200c, taken once daily. Sepia is one of those remedies which is beautiful for so many different conditions and issues women may face, though it can also be used for men.

Similar to last month's story in knowing when to stop and when to resume a homeopathic medicine, I recently stopped taking Sepia to see if my body had taken over the work it was doing. When a rapid rise in my temperature and flush in my cheeks began to creep back in, I knew I was not yet done with this remedy. You may be thinking that this story isn't fully complete, and therefore, does not meet the requirements to be considered a "success". I would beg to differ. Where else can you find a natural substance, which causes no other side effects, and costs less than $10 per tube to bring such full relief from hot flashes? I won't have to take it forever, but it's there for me while I need it. I call that a magnificent success!
