K is for Kali - Our Materia Medica Study
Kali bichromium, made from Potassium Bichromate, has an affinity for the mucus membranes of the air passages. Although it can be helpful for many symptoms, one of the main things for which Kali bich is used is sinus conditions. For sinus headaches with a congested, full feeling in the nose, look no further than Kali bich 30c. When symptoms are quite severe and painful, dosing every two hours may be in order, otherwise taking a dose every four to six hours can help bring relief.
Kali carbonicum is one of my favorite homeopathic remedies. It has a particular affinity for the lungs, among other uses. At the first sign of a cold for someone with asthma or a tendency to respiratory conditions, Kali carb 200c can be taken twice daily for lung support.
Made from Potassium Iodide, Kali iodatum, is useful for things like glandular swellings, pleuritic effusion, and chronic sinusitis. When a person is suffering from whistling or asthmatic breathing or a cough that rattles or whistles, Kali iodatum 6c can be taken every three hours to twice daily depending on the severity of symptoms.
Potassium Chloride is the substance from which the homeopathic medicine Kali muriaticum is made. A keynote of this remedy is white, whether secretions or discharges. One of my favorite uses for this remedy is for a plugged or infected ear. Kali mur 6x, taken every three hours to twice daily for less severe conditions has been amazing to bring relief to full ears that may be accompanied by snapping or crackling noises.

Our employee’s dog had severe bleeding for 2 months. I over heard him talking about it and suggested Cantharis. One dose and she was so much better. The next day a changed dog.
