Happy Fall!
This month I am back in the Materia Medica in the D section to share a few remedies with you!
Dioscorea villosa, made from Wild Yam, is a lesser known remedy with a keynote of colic pains. Whether gallbladder, kidney or abdominal colic pain, when it's relieved by stretching out or even backward, Dioscorea 30c may be a good choice to bring relief.
Made from Woody Nightshade, one of the keynotes of Dulcamara is worse from cold and damp environments. This remedy is used for hayfever, rheumatic pains worse from cold, or crusty skin eruptions. Hayfever which sets in at the end of summer or fall with profuse, watery nasal discharge or a stuffed up nose after a cold rain may be well aided by Dulcamara 30c.
Drosera rotundifolia is made from Round-leaved Sundew and has marked affects on the respiratory organs. Whooping cough and deep prolonged coughing fits which may cause chest pain are some reasons to consider this homeopathic medicine. If frequent spells of a deep barking cough are plaguing you, look no further than Drosera. When these symptoms arise, this remedy is typically taken in a 200c.
Digitalis purpurea, made from Foxglove, is primarily a heart remedy but also affects other organs such as the liver, lungs, stomach, and urogenital. Digitalis 30c may be a well indicated remedy when there is a slow, irregular or intermittent pulse.
Dandelion in homeopathic form is called Taraxacum officinale, and it's main actions are on the liver and bladder. Gastric headaches, which may be accompanied by a mapped tongue, could be helped by Taraxacum 30c. In it's herbal form Taraxacum is also used for a variety of health benefits including as a detox.

Success Story Spotlight
This month I thought I would share a story from my own family. This summer one of my children developed some painful warts on a couple of toes. I started out giving Antimonium crudum 6c twice daily, which is a top homeopathic medicine for warts as well as other skin conditions.
Normally in a situation like this I would give a remedy several weeks to act before moving on because warts can take time to heal. However, due to the location and growing size of these warts, even walking became quite painful. For this reason after a couple of weeks I switched gears to giving Thuja occidentalis 30c twice daily. This remedy was well indicated for the bothersome warts as well as a few other keynotes of the medicine. Despite this fact I was once again amazed when my child reported about a week later that the warts were gone! What a beautiful and effective medicine this is!
